Two days ago my mom was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. She is 82. I believe at the age of 28 mymom was diagnosed with skin cancer. Then around 48 she had thyroid issues and it was believed to be thyroid cancer, which they removed. Around 65 she had breast cancer and right breast removed. About 3 years later kidney cancer and her left kidney removed. In the meantime my Dad died from colon cancer. Then of late this multiple myloma diagnosis. About 5 years ago my sister had breast cancer and was treated with chemo and rad and now in remissiion.I have benn fortunate so far. Only thyriod issues which I had radiated this past summer. Now should I receive genetic counsling and if so what type and where? Oh and mymom's one brother has lymphoma now and the other braother has been a diabetic since the age of 13.
