Is this really related to my genetics? (3 posts)

I have suffered from this for years. No one else in my family has this issue so i don't think its genetic. Are there other causes?

I think it is related to genetics. I saw on TV once that different heritages had different reactions to lactose in foods. Perhaps you just got the short end of the stick in the situation and ended up with the lactose intolerance. :(

My older brother is lactose intolerant but I'm not. I've never had any problem with digesting dairy products. However, his oldest daughter does have digestive problems. Our mother isn't lactose intolerant but had a stomach ulcer. This makes me wonder if such conditions are genetic.
