My mother went to the tanning bed everyday for 15 years and never had a problem. So for a while, I thought that tanning beds did not cause skin cancer. I was wrong. The doctor found an unusual mole on my mothers back and discovered it was cancerous. Turns out she had skin cancer all in her back. They think they have finally gotten it all, but let this be a warning to everyone: Tanning beds not only cause skin cacner but up your chance of getting it!!

That is very true! Tanning beds cause the same changes in your skin cells that UV rays directly from the sun cause. My aunt had a similar experience to your mother. She went to tanning beds for many years, never believing that they could really cause harm. She was diagnosed with skin cancer 3 years ago. They ended up getting all of the cancer and she is currently cancer-free, but you can never be too careful!
