This Wall Street Journal Argument focus's on an ongoing court case regarding seven patents to Breast-Cancer Genes owned by Myriad and the research foundation. Lawyers against Myriad argue that a single entity should not be permitted to own knowledge that could help researchers understand and possibly develop a cure for the disease. The companies lawyers argue that since the patents aren't to human genes themselves that ownership by the company is fair game.
