Researchers at UT Medical Center have isolated a gene mutation that has been proven to cause a form of endometrial cancer that is responsive to a specific drug therapy. The researchers suggest that this finding may make it easier for future screenings of women to determine whether they have the mutation and, if so, the path of preventative action and/or treatment necessary before the disease begins.
Early clinical trials have shown that certain women are responsive to a group of cancer therapies called 'rapalongs', but it was previously not possible to predict which women and wy. With this new genetic key finding, it may now make such cancers much easier to prevent and treat.
